What to look forward to when you return...
Reading: The first week back we will do several mini-lessons on inferencing. We will go over strategies, practice them in pairs, and independently. Students will be taught the format for writing this type of piece & will do it as a class this first week, before they are expected to do it independently.
Grammar: We will practice with main/helping verbs.
WEX(writing program): This Book 2 Unit is Response to Literature. Each child will get their own book to annotate; The Liberation of Gabriel King. Students will practice making inferences and use text clues to support their thoughts.
Science: We will begin the Watery Earth unit. We will be doing hands-on activities to discuss where fresh, salt, and ground water can be found and how they are used. In addition, we will be following a drop of rain to see how the water cycle works. Students can expect 1 Family Link/homework a week, on average.
1. Coding in January
2. A research project in the LMC/classroom regarding real-world issues on water to last through February
3. MAP testing the 2nd week of January for reading, language arts, and math.
